Did you get a puppy started in Scent Work where they were doing amazing, loved the game, were hunting independently, and had incredible focus in the sport... only to see it fall apart a few months later once they hit that 6 month mark?

Between the age of 6 months to 2 years, puppies enter adolescence or the teenager phase. This period is one of the most challenging times in any owner's life as your puppy transitions into adulthood. Between hormones, fear stages, and big feelings, it may seem that competing in scent work will never be possible.

However, the great news is that adolescence is only a phase and with the proper support and structure, you can keep the joy, independence, focus, and engagement in the sport as you navigate this delicate phase in your puppy's maturity into adulthood.

In this webinar, we'll cover strategies for training, search set ups, pitfalls to avoid in order to set your teenager up for long term success in the sport.

Although the presentation is focused on the National Association of Canine Scent Work (NACSW) methodologies of training a dog in foundations using primary (food or toy), this can apply to any adolescent puppy already introduced to competition Scent Work odors.

Should You Take This Webinar

Regardless of if you're a seasoned competitor or brand new to the sport, there are many tips and strategies to make your journey with your teenage sniffer a success for the long term. This webinar will share tips and tricks from the presenter's journey of navigating her own adolescent puppy's training in the sport as she gears her puppy up for future competition.

What Our Clients Are Saying

The videos were wonderful. People like to present successful videos but we can learn a lot from the problematic, frustrating videos. The information presented provided me with a few new ideas for my current adolescent Husky / GSD. More importantly, my senior (13 year old) Dane mix has recently started the shark behavior when being rewarded. I am using food in palm rather than food in fingers but I will now start incorporating the quiet, calm talk. Looking forward to seeing if that will work for him.
