You and your dog are climbing the levels of AKC Scent Work, having earned your Advanced-level title, and now you are ready to tackle Excellent. There are some hefty challenges in this level! Let's ensure you and your pup are ready.

In this 6-week course, we will walk through the skills you, your dog and your team will need to succeed in an AKC Excellent-level trial. The course will concentrate on the Container, Interior and Exterior classes. We will ensure you both can tackle MASTER-LEVEL searches, so that the Excellent level classes are a breeze.

NOTE: If you are looking for help with the Buried class, we strongly recommend that you take Natalie McManus' Working Water Hides course.

Course Outline

The AKC Scent Work: Excellent Level Trial Prep Course is designed to provide the same exact learning experience we provided to our in-person group dog training classes in a virtual format. Same great quality with more flexibility and convenience!

Loving Birch, Anise and Clove
Multi-Hide Searches
Tackling Larger Search Areas

What You Will Need

your dog
collar (flat or martingale)
harness (back-clip) (optional)
leash (6'-8') long line (10'-15')
treats (high-value and smelly)
crate or area your dog can wait while you set-up your searches boxes
minimum of 20 boxes of various sizes (good excuse to shop at Amazon!)
Birch, Anise and Clove scented q-tips and odor vessels
Distractors (non-food, food, auditory and visual)
earthquake putty or GlueDots
