"Learn how to read your dog" is a common phrase in Scent Work. This relates to learning what your dog looks like when they are working odor. However, it is also essential that we have a general understanding of canine body language!
In asking our dogs to hunt, we must understand what the dog is saying throughout the entirety of the search. Can you tell if your dog is focused and working hard on sorting out a particular puzzle or are fading, perhaps even exhausting themselves? Do you know when your dog is being sucked into the environment or succumbing to triggers? Are you aware when your dog is asking you questions, cueing off of you or when you are pulling them off a puzzle with your own body movements? We will discuss all of this and more in this webinar geared toward helping handlers better read what their dogs may be saying during a Scent Work search.
