How This Helps Us Find and Shape the Language We Share With Our Dogs

Every search contains numerous granular moments of communication, many of which are missed, rejected, or replaced by us humans, shrouding some searches in mystery. Dogs, however, are far more sensitive and present to these moments, making them excellent guides through the unknown, revealing to us the agreements and conversations that most need our attention.

Through video review, we will wonder about a few of these moments and discuss the process that leads to clearer agreements and more sensible conversations with our dogs.

Webinar Details

During this 90 minute webinar we will:

  • Establish some of the most common agreements we make with our dogs in nose work and explore what our actions say about our faith in those agreements.
  • Define the "content" of a search, and practice accurately absorbing and retaining the facts of a search over time.
  • Consider the "context" of a search, and discuss ways we can feel, think, and act about a search that would make the most sense to our dogs.
  • Explore a few patterns many of our dogs communicate through that might help us better understand what is going on in a search.
  • Wonder about the myriad opportunities for co-creating agreements and shared language with our dogs present in every search.
  • Discuss the challenges of competition searching and some of the ways our dogs can guide us to be the supportive partners we want to be in practice and at trials.
