Breaking down complex ideas into smaller pieces helps our dogs better understand.  It’s something we do in other venues really well - we wouldn’t expect our dogs to perform a recall exercise in obedience without first understanding how to sit, then stay, then come… as well as sit in front, and finish to the side if we’re talking about formal obedience. But in Nosework we often get stuck in trying to unlock those pieces.
