As Scent Work instructors, it is our duty to identify and meet the needs of both our human and canine clients. To do so, we should leverage our expertise, past experience and observation skills. The latter will be particularly crucial when it comes to determining how best to support the dog.

The key questions we must pose include:

  • Are there any apparent medical or physical concerns or questions?
  • What type of relationship do they have with their person?
  • How does the dog enter and interact with the space?
  • Are there any obvious triggers or concerns?
  • What seems to motivate, excite, worry or frustrate the dog?
  • What training tools, exercises and approaches will best fit this dog's needs?

In this seminar, we will highlight ways Scent Work instructors can better assess their new and current canine clients and what to consider when devising possible Scent Work training plans and solutions.

IMPORTANT: This seminar is designed to build off the foundation covered in the Teaching Scent Work Seminar.
