Canine Body Behavior and Scent Work for Handlers Webinar
While it is true all Scent Work handlers should learn how to "read their dog" in regard to the dog working odor, we must also hone our eye to see what our dogs are "saying" the rest of the time too!
Dianna L. Santos
In asking our dogs to hunt, we must understand what the dog is saying throughout the entirety of the search, not just when they are sourcing a hide.
Can you tell if your dog is focused and working hard on sorting out a particular puzzle or are they fading, perhaps even exhausting themselves? Do you know when your dog is being sucked into the environment or succumbing to triggers? Are you aware when your dog is asking you questions, cueing off of you or when you are pulling them off a puzzle with your own body movements?
We will discuss all of this and more in this webinar geared toward helping handlers better read what their dogs may be saying during a Scent Work search.
NOTE: This is the first webinar in a three-part series. Be sure to check out:
This webinar has been approved for 2 NACSW CEUs and 1.5 CPDT and KPA CEUs.
