Meet Michelle Doram

Bio

Michelle has a deep devotion to the game and sport of Scent Work. She began classes with her puppy, Kacie, in 2010, which changed both their lives, and thereafter those of her other dogs. All four of her current dogs have NACSW Titles. Michelle recently earned her ELT1 title with her dog Nate, and is enjoying no longer worrying about “No” at ELT Trials! Michelle became a NACSW™ Certified Nose Work Instructor (CNWI) in 2013. Michelle is also an approved Judge and CSD with United States Canine Scent Sports, and always receives positive feedback from her trials as being a fun and supportive official to trial under.

Ever interested in playing this fun game with her dogs, continuing education, and learning all she can about all-things Scent Work, Michelle regularly attends Scent Work seminars and workshops.

When she is not focused on Scent Work, Michelle runs The Dog House in Los Angeles, a doggie daycare and grooming facility of which she has been the owner and operator of since 2001.

Michelle is also an active Therapy Dogs International Team with her Collie, Cedar via the Tail Waggin’ Tutors program. Previously, her Sheltie Mix, Raia, began her Therapy Dog career at age 11 via SPCA-LA. She volunteers with Southland Collie Rescue and spent many weekends at adoption events for various groups before Scent Work took every weekend. Michelle’s family was a Puppy Raiser family for Guide Dogs of America, so she had the opportunity to help socialize 12 consecutive German Shepherd Guide Dog prospects.

Michelle's students love her kind demeanor, attention to detail and her ability to break down complicated concepts into easy-to-digest trinkets of knowledge.
