Meet Jason Heng

Bio

Jason has spent the last 15 years dedicated to nose work competition, inspired by Atlas, a Shiba Inu who deserved a career worthy of Atlas’s gamesmanship. Jason has attended hundreds of hours of K9 Nose Work® training seminars led by NACSW™ founders, along with other expert instructors and professional trainers. He serves as a Supervising Certifying Official and Judge for NACSW™ trials and ORTs. Additionally, he has enjoyed teaching at K9 Nose Work® camps in Pennsylvania, Georgia, Colorado, Wisconsin, and Texas.

As a Certified Nosework Instructor (CNWI), NACSW™ Certifying Official, and nose work enthusiast, he frequently travels for all things related to nose work. Jason started competing with Atlas in 2013 and earned an Elite Division Championship in 2017, along with qualifying and running in the 2017 NACSW National Invitational, where he competed against 46 top dog teams in November 2017 in Springfield, MA. He has also served as a K9 handler with a German Shepherd, conducting bed bug searches for a pest control company throughout Texas.

Traveling is always an adventure for him. He has competed at the Summit level in over 100 NACSW™ trials and participated in events across UKC, AKC, and USCSS in more than 20 states with his three Shiba Inus and Labrador. Jason is deeply grateful for the four wonderful K9 scent masters, all of whom have since passed away, yet he remains eager for new learning opportunities.

Jason’s nose work mission is to learn from his dogs and many generous mentors who share their wisdom. He aims to pass this knowledge on to people, helping them connect with their own dogs and understand what they strive to teach us during the valuable, brief time we have together.
