Building Distance in Scent Work
Online course you may access anywhere
High-quality dog training instruction
To be as effective as possible when hunting, our dogs will oftentimes need to work away from us. Yet, being able to work a distance away from the handler may be a challenging skill for some dogs. In this course, we will help your dog develop the comfort and confidence to work away from you!
Odor is incredibly complex and our dogs need as much space as possible to work out these odor puzzles. Granting them this extra space will accommodate sudden changes in direction and speed our dogs may do while searching. However, these types of movement will not be as easy when we are right next to, or worst still on top of, our dogs.
Some Scent Work competition organizations have recognized the value of having a dog work away from the handler. As such, they offer specific classes that focus on this one skill!
In this course, we will outline fun and engaging exercises designed to help our dog increase the distance in which they can confidently work away from us.
